When your agent cannot sign in to Basemodo's MCP, or stops being signed in: what happened, and what to do.

Sign-in does not finish

  • The browser does not open. The client shows the address it meant to open: open it yourself, in the browser where you are signed in to basemodo.com.
  • The browser shows an error after you approve. The client was no longer waiting for the answer, or could not receive it. Run its sign-in step again (on its page in this section). In Claude Code, you can instead paste the whole address from the browser's address bar into the prompt Claude Code shows.
  • basemodo.com says it does not know the agent (invalid_client). The client's registration is gone or its client metadata document cannot be read. Remove Basemodo from the client, add it again, and sign in.
  • The client asks for a client ID or a client secret. Leave them empty if you can, or remove Basemodo and add it again: there is no client to create, since each client registers itself with Basemodo. A client that keeps asking could not reach https://mcp.basemodo.com to register; check that your network lets it through.
  • You approved it as someone else. The agent acts as whoever approved it. Revoke it on the Devices page, sign in to basemodo.com as yourself, and sign the agent in again.

An agent revoked in Devices

Revoking an agent on the Devices page, under Agents, ends its Agent Grant at once: its next call is refused, and the client shows Basemodo as needing to sign in. If you revoked it by mistake, or want it back, run the client's sign-in step again and approve it. That creates a new Agent Grant; the old one never comes back.

An Agent Grant unused for 30 days

An Agent Grant lasts 30 days from when you approved it or the client last renewed its access, which it does every hour while you use it. An agent left unused for 30 days is signed out, as if revoked: run the client's sign-in step again and approve it.

The local MCP

  • Its tools answer not_signed_in. The CLI's sign-in expired (after 30 days) or was revoked. Run basemodo login in a terminal.
  • The client cannot start basemodo. Clients do not always see the same PATH as your terminal. Put the command's full path in the client's configuration: which basemodo prints it (where basemodo on Windows).
