ChatGPT

Add Basemodo to ChatGPT on the web as a custom MCP server, then sign in in your browser.

Basemodo is not in ChatGPT's directory yet, and ChatGPT takes plugins only from there, so for now it connects to Basemodo's Remote MCP by its URL. That works on the plans that add a custom MCP server: Business, Enterprise and Edu get all of it, and Pro only the tools that read. What it needs, below, says who on each plan can add it.

Set up

On chatgpt.com, open Plugins, select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. Name it Basemodo and, under Connection, enter this public endpoint:

https://mcp.basemodo.com

Set its authentication to OAuth, with no client ID or secret of your own: ChatGPT registers itself with Basemodo. Review the warning, select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.

Then sign in: ChatGPT sends you to basemodo.com, which asks you to approve it. Approve it, and ChatGPT acts as you through its Agent Grant. It then lists the tools it found on Basemodo. Its deploy takes a GitHub repository, so your code goes to Basemodo through GitHub.

If your account still shows a Developer mode setting (under Settings, Apps, Advanced settings), turn it on first; newer accounts add custom MCP servers without it.

Other ways

None in ChatGPT itself. There is no local MCP in ChatGPT: it connects from OpenAI's servers, which cannot start a command on your computer. To deploy a folder on your computer with OpenAI, set up Codex, which ChatGPT's desktop app shares.

What it needs

ChatGPT on the web: custom MCP servers are not added from the mobile apps. OpenAI offers them with every tool on the Business, Enterprise and Edu plans, where a workspace's policies apply: on Business, only admins and owners add one; on Enterprise and Edu, admins can also let chosen members. On Pro, ChatGPT lets a custom MCP server only read, so Basemodo's tools that change things (deploy, share, env_set and the like) are left out.
